ITDP is a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York City with offices in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, and the United States. ITDP’s programs focus on public transport, non-motorized transport, travel demand management, parking, transport policy, and urban development.

Daizong Liu

East Asia Director

Daizong Liu joined ITDP as the East Asia Director in 2023 with over 20 years of experience in urban sustainable development strategy, planning and design, and sustainable transportation development policy. Mr. Liu is also a renowned public speaker on sustainable urban issues.

Prior to joining ITDP, Mr. Liu was the Director of the China Sustainable Cities Program for the World Resources Institute (WRI). In 2022, Daizong Liu was hired as a visiting professor at the School of Architecture and Landscape at Peking University. In addition, he was invited to serve as the founding member of the UN Consultative Transportation Committee for the China Association for Science and Technology; Chair of the Future Transportation and Sustainable Development Committee for the World Transportation Conference (WTC); Shared Mobility Expert for the Councilor’s Office of the State Council; TOD Expert for the World Bank; Independent Board Member of Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group Co.; and a Member of the Expert Committee at the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport.

Mr. Daizong  obtained a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the National University of Singapore, and a Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering from the Southeast University in China.
