Nicolás Estupiñan

Director of the Directorate of Sectoral Analysis, CAF - Development Bank of Latin America

Nicolás currently serves as the Director of the Directorate of Sectoral Analysis at CAF. Throughout his career, Nicolás has worked on enhancing the urban agenda, fostering sustainable mobility, reducing poverty, and fighting climate change. He has served in Colombia’s National Planning Department, as transport vice minister 2012–2014, and after as a Secretary of Mobility of Bogotá. He has also worked for the World Bank as a Junior Professional and previously for CAF as head of the Urban Transport Unit and Director of Sector Knowledge. 

He has published several papers on urban transport affordability and the effects of urban form on travel patterns. He serves on two committees at the Transport Research Board, and is a member of the Michelin Stakeholder Committee. 

Nicolás holds a BS in civil engineering (Universidad de los Andes) and a Master’s in urban planning (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill).
