Organizer(s): ITDP, ECF, FIA Foundation, Despacio, Walk21
Walking and Cycling Policies, Investments, and
Inclusion in NDCs for Climate, Health, and Equity

16:45 – 18:15 — Blue Zone, SE Room 3 (125 pax)
Participants: Heather Thompson (CEO, ITDP)

Description: Countries must act now. Enabling more people to walk and cycle safely is essential to achieving the Paris Agreement, yet walking and cycling lack priority in the transport and mobility mix and broader climate agenda. Walking and cycling are some of the fastest, most cost-effective ways to reduce transport emissions, traffic congestion, and road casualties while delivering improved public health, stronger economies, and more equitable societies. This event examines how effective policies, increased national investment and financing mechanisms, and meaningful implementation can unlock active mobility’s full potential.
