Istanbul’s Metrobus has become one of the most effective bus rapid transit systems in the world. Opened in 2007, by the end of 2008 the system carried 450,000 passengers a day over 43 kilometers (about 27 miles) of segregated busway. The system also is integrated with the underground metro and existing bus services. As of 2009, the system had a passenger satisfaction rating of 93%.
