ITDP is a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York City with offices in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, and the United States. ITDP’s programs focus on public transport, non-motorized transport, travel demand management, parking, transport policy, and urban development.

Mariana Brito

Communications Manager

Mariana Brito is a journalist from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) and is currently pursuing a post-graduate degree in Urban Sociology at Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ). At ITDP Brazil, she’s responsible for producing and implementing communications strategies for projects and institutional demands to expand the organization’s impact. Her activities focus on building the image and strengthening the identity and institutional positioning of ITDP Brazil. Creating products and communications activities, managing media relations, reviewing technical publications, and planning events are some of her responsibilities, besides managing the communications team in Brazil.

Mariana is interested in cause communications and themes that focus on reducing social and racial inequality, and she sees sustainable urban mobility policies as one possible way to address these disparities. Mariana coordinated “The Color of Mobility” project, ITDP Brazil’s initiative focused on highlighting the impact of structural racism in Brazil and how it affects the country’s transport systems and Black people.
