Julia Wallerce

Boston Program Manager

Julia (she/her/hers pronouns) leads ITDP’s Boston program, including the initiative to bring true bus rapid transit to the region. Julia manages the BostonBRT initiative, including coordinating bus corridor pilot projects that successfully demonstrated BRT elements in four municipalities and resulted in several bus-only lanes becoming permanent.

A vocal advocate for improving transportation and street use, Julia also represents ITDP in the Boston region around a host of other issues and projects including MassDOT’s Bus Network Redesign, MassINC’s Gateway Cities Initiative and municipal bus priority projects throughout the Boston region.

Julia serves as Chair of the Transportation Advisory Committee in Winthrop, Massachusetts and as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of LivableStreets Alliance, a group that promotes innovative and equitable transport solutions in Metro Boston. She previously served as Executive Director of MassCommute, a coalition of 15 transportation management associations (TMAs) that represent over 350 businesses and 400,000 employees in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and spent many years working with community development corporations (CDCs) across the nation.

Julia has a Master’s from Tufts University in Urban & Environmental Policy and Planning and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies and Education from the University of California Santa Cruz.
