What We DoGuadalajara

The 16-kilometer (10-mile) first phase of BRT, Macrobus, was inaugurated in March 2009 and ITDP is assisting with the planning of a full 72-kilometer (44.7-mi) network, to be completed by 2012. Various visits from ITDP Board President and former Bogotá mayor, Enrique Peñalosa, solidified the necessary support for BRT from key decision makers, who also traveled to Bogotá to learn from TransMilenio’s success.

ITDP has developed a complete bicycle masterplan for the city, and will oversee the detailed design and construction of all phases of the project. ITDP is also providing advice on a public bike share system for the city.

ITDP is also working on parking policy issues in Guadalajara in an effort to manage traffic demand.
