More then 120 citizens pedaled bicycles to spread awareness about cycling benefits and demand safe and segregated cycle tracks/lanes on the main roads of Delhi
A Bicycle Rally was organized on Sunday, 24th June 2007 from India Gate to Red Fort by the Delhi Cycling Club to create awareness about the health, environmental, social and economic benefits of cycling; promote road safety amongst cyclists, and to demand from the Government the much-needed cycle tracks on all main roads of Delhi.
Over 120 bicycle enthusiasts, students, academicians and environmentalists from various parts of Delhi participated in the rally and pedaled cycle for more than 13 kilometers on Sunday morning. The rally was joined by people who are concerned about the rapidly increasing number of cars, pollution, fossil fuel consumption and traffic jams which is the cause of global warming.
They came forward to join hands and make a small beginning to remind the advantages of bicycling. The more there are users of bicycles, the more we can solve most of the above-mentioned problems. Bicycling doesn’t make any pollution, it saves fuel, and it helps to keep citizens healthy.
